Welcome to Before I Forget. By creating an account or using our service, you agree to these terms.

About the service

Before I Forget is a digital platform that helps you preserve your life stories and memories. You can share memories through typed conversations, upload voice recordings, and upload written documents. Our service uses artificial intelligence to help organise and polish your stories.

Beta service

Before I Forget is currently in beta testing. This means:

  • Features may change, be added, or be removed without notice
  • The service may experience interruptions or errors
  • We are actively developing and improving the platform based on user feedback
  • We make no guarantees about the long-term availability of specific features

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.

Your content

You own your content. All stories, recordings, documents, and other content you upload or create remain your property. We do not claim any ownership of your content.

You grant us a limited licence to process, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. This includes sending your content to AI providers for processing (transcription, story polishing, etc.).

You are responsible for your content. You must have the right to share any content you upload. Do not upload content that infringes on someone else's rights, contains illegal material, or violates any applicable law.

AI-generated content

Our service uses AI to help polish and organise your stories. Please be aware that:

  • AI-generated content may not be perfectly accurate
  • The AI may occasionally misinterpret, omit, or alter details from your original content
  • You should always review AI-polished stories before sharing them with others
  • You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any AI-generated content
  • AI-generated stories are based solely on what you provide — the AI does not add factual information from other sources

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Upload content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, or violates the rights of others
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Interfere with the operation of the service
  • Use the service to store content unrelated to personal stories and memories

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law:

  • The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for any loss of data, although we take reasonable steps to protect your content
  • We are not liable for any inaccuracies in AI-generated content
  • Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us (currently $0 during the beta period)
  • We recommend you keep your own copies of any important original documents or recordings

Data and privacy

Our collection and use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the service, you consent to our data practices as described in that policy.

Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify you of significant changes.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
